Sabina Mexis

Sabina Mexis is the Principal and founder of Axios Law, a boutique law firm specializing in tax and estate planning for individuals and business owners.  Sabina has particular expertise in cross border tax, trust and estate planning.

Sabina was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2000, after receiving her law degree from the University of Windsor.  Sabina also earned a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from McMaster University and an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Glendon College, York University.  Sabina has completed Parts I and II of the In-Depth Tax Course offered by CPA Canada and is designated as a trusts and estates practitioner with the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP) Canada.  She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Canadian Bar Association and the Taxation Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association. 

Sabina works closely with professional advisors, such as accountants and financial advisors, to plan and implement tax minimization strategies such as estate freezes, the preparation of primary and secondary wills, family trusts, alter ego and joint partner trusts, and probate planning.

In addition to her tax and estate planning expertise, Sabina advises on retirement and executive compensation, philanthropy and charitable giving.  Sabina also provides tax advice to charities and not-for-profit corporations.  She also represents and assists clients in tax disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency.  Sabina is a frequent speaker at tax conferences and has written tax articles for numerous professional publications.
